We’re obsessed with the new Log Wood Bed and Headboard that’s recently been added to the Pottery Barn collection. And really, what’s not to love? Made in America in the rural midwest, this artisan-built bed is crafted from solid poplar logs. Another reason we love it? This bed is built using environmentally friendly methods from start to finish, and is made almost completely by hand. But since we wanted to know what originally inspired Pottery Barn to carry this gorgeous bed, we asked our designers for the story behind the design.
It turns out that while our bedroom designer, Ged, was on a ski trip in Aspen he was inspired by the scale and rustic authenticity of the log beds in the house he was renting. He took pictures and sketched out the bed’s design, adding some of his own ideas to the original bed’s look, and then shared the photos and sketches with the team back in San Francisco upon his return from his Colorado ski trip. After that, the team made quick work of turning Ged’s designs into Pottery Barn reality.
Do you love this new bed as well? Where would you decorate with it?
I just got my log bed! It’s a beautiful piece of art!i wish I could post a picture!
I love the look of this bed, and it’s nice to see that you can purchase just the headboard as well. This would give just the right “woodsy” look to a master bedroom without going overboard with a full cabin-theme.
