Mexico is one of our favorite vacation destinations and the inspiration behind our collaboration with Honestly YUM. Whether it is the vibrancy of Mexico City or the laid back cadence Tulum, our neighbor to the South holds a special place in our hearts. As the weather warms up, we wanted to bring a bit of that festive nature to our backyards and outdoor entertaining this season. So we tapped our friends at Honestly YUM to collaborate on creating a quick and easy celebration that captures the vibrancy of Mexico.
Taking inspiration from our Chesapeake Stripe Melamine Salad Plates the Honestly YUM team created a beautifully textured and layered Margarita Party that is bursting with color and a healthy dose of heat thank to their delicious Serrano Margarita.
Even though cocktails may be the star of this party, the Honestly YUM team created a beautiful quiet backdrop with our embroidered stripe tablecloth which they expertly layered with two different runners. Building upon the layering theme, Chesapeake Stripe Melamine Salad Plates and our Swirl Melamine Outdoor Plates were layered on top of a classic rattan charger. Our linen napkin with rattan ring were added as a final layer to the place setting. The resulting combination is a subdued but richly textured setting that evokes ideas of vacations, lounging and sipping margaritas.
And speaking of margaritas, we loved the original recipe that Honestly YUM created for us for a serrano chili margarita. Sweet, spicy and delicious is the best way to describe it. It has a subtle heat and pairs perfectly with salty chips and creamy guacamole.
Serrano Margarita
Ingredients:
– 2 oz blanco tequila
– 1/2 oz triple sec
– 1/4 oz agave nectar
– 1 oz lime juice
– 2-4 thin slices of serrano chili pepper
– lime wedge and salt for garnish
Directions:
– Add serrano chili slices and agave nectar to the bottom of your shaker and muddle.
– Add lime juice, triple sec, and tequila, top with ice, and shake for 10 seconds.
– Strain into a salt-rimmed rocks glass over new ice. Garnish with a lime wedge and serve!
To help you throw the best party possible, we asked Honestly YUM if they would recommend three quick tips for recreating this awesome party.
TIP 1: You don’t need a ton of flowers to create a beautiful centerpiece. Fill a platter or bowl like the vintage wood serving platter with fresh ingredients and add just a couple of large fresh flowers or faux succulents.
TIP 2: Remember layering when creating your tablescape. A variety of textiles creates depth and texture to a table. Try layering linens with table runners of varying lengths. To achieve a similar look, try layering our nubby table runner over the PB Classic Belgian Flax Linen runner.
TIP 3: We love margarita parties because you can make the main feature, the margaritas, ahead of time in large batches. We love serving them in pitchers, but think about creating a self-serve station with a beverage dispenser. It’s one less thing you have to worry about during your party!
We couldn’t agree more with Honestly YUM! A little prep and some planning and you can throw a party that is easy, breezy and laid-back. So embrace relaxed entertaining, take a seat and enjoy a sip of your margarita. Now if you excuse us, we will be sitting and day dreaming of our time in Tulum on the beach. Cheers!
Hi! Whats the color of the rim on the Swirl plates? Thanks!
