Five Registry Gifts Newlyweds Will Actually Use + A Monthly Give-Away

Let’s be honest for a moment and truthfully answer the last time you used that large soup tureen that you received as a wedding present?  With storage space at a premium in most metro areas, people marrying later in life or for a second time, it may be time to reconsider the notion of what should be on a wedding registry.  That’s why we teamed up with Apartment Therapy to find five practical essentials for the smart, stylish couple that will work in real life and make an awesome registry gift!

White Plates

Formal china is nice but if you are like us, you need something that you can serve pizza on as well as a 5-course meal.  This is why the editors at Apartment Therapy love the idea of selecting white plates as part of your registry.  Not only do they place the focus on the food, they are a great way to tie together several different plate patterns which is key when you are merging two households into one.

Add Patterned Plates In Small Or Large Sizes

In addition to registering for white plates, the editors recommend choosing a pattern for your salad plates and/or chargers.  Having multiple sizes gives options when serving a multi-course meal and during special occasions you can layer each place setting to create a dazzling tablescape for your guests.

Ditch The Crystal

Choose glassware that works with your day-to-day life.  Don’t lose valuable storage space for items you would use once a year.  It’s perfectly fine (and quite chic) to drink red wine out of a demi tumbler.  Plus unlike heat-sensitive crystal, they are dishwasher safe.

Fuss-Free Flatware

Polishing silver does not rank high on anyone’s “bucket list” of fun activities.  So why not opt for dishwasher-safe flatware in a beautiful design.  Hammered metal or plated handles provide just enough detail to make the flatware distinctive and fun.

Monogramming

Everyone is in agreement that it is a nice touch to add something monogrammed to your registry.  Mugs are a great way to add a signature monogrammed piece to your registry in a subtle way as is the case with the Moscow Mule Mugs (which we love!).  Aside from mugs, think about adding a monogram to your napkins, tablecloth or even your bedding.

Now that we have given you some registry gift ideas, we want to give you one more thing!  A chance to win $2500 towards purchasing your dream items!  Each month we’ll be selecting 1 winner who will receive $2,500 towards their dream registry. Registrants are automatically entered once they created a registry in store or online and add products to their registry.
