Hello, Color! How to Decorate with Sherwin-Williams Paint’s Distance

We love using deep, soothing blues in bedrooms. There’s something about the right shade of blue that feels comforting and refreshing all at the same time. Sherwin-Williams’ Distance, part of their color palette with Pottery Barn, is certainly one of these special hues.  Read on to see how we like using this rich but calming blue with some of our favorite bedroom decor.

In rooms with a lot of natural light, Distance can often feel more concentrated and blue than it does on a swatch. Like any paint, make sure you test it out on one of the walls in your room before you start painting.

Bedding: Look for a patterned duvet or comforter that’ll really pop against the vivid undertones of Distance. We love how the warm hues in our Maggie Floral Comforter complement blues so beautifully.

Wall art: Now that you have color and pattern covered, stick to natural and metallic tones for the rest of the room so it doesn’t feel too overwhelming. These Eleanor Frameless Mirrors add just the right amount of glitz without taking away from your statement-making wall color and duvet.

Lighting: Elements of intricate metalwork, like this Ramona Bedside Lamp, bring visual texture to the space.

Accessories: Cozy up at night with a chunky knit throw in a soft, neutral color. We love this Oversized Tassle Throw in Ivory or Taupe — it’s the perfect way to stay warm on chilly nights.

Rugs: Last but not least, make sure your feet stay cozy too with a soft, shag rug. Like the other elements in the room, the Dalton Shag Rug has a distinct texture without distracting from the bold color choices on your walls and bedding.
