Before & After: A Classic Bathroom Remodel

We’ve been a huge fan of lifestyle blogger Monica Lavin (of the blog Lavin Label) for ages, so when she told us that she was renovating a bathroom in her new ranch home, we couldn’t wait to see it! Take a look below to learn a bit about how Monica transformed the uninspired space into a bathroom straight out of a magazine — and then get the look for yourself!

Before & After: A Classic Bathroom Remodel

Before & After

We bought a ranch-style home earlier this year. Going into it we knew that it was going to be a big project. When we first walked in the home we realized that we needed to completely remodel the entire house, especially the master bedroom and bathroom (or lack thereof). I really love bright and airy spaces that have a lot of natural light (just take a look at our Instagram feed), and we knew that we wanted to bring these elements into our master bedroom suite. We just finished the renovation about a month ago and I can’t wait to share our master bathroom final reveal with you!

We centered the bathroom around the large window so we would have plenty of natural light. We anchored it with a white pedestal tub from Simmer and Soak that contrasted the dark gray herringbone tile and light gray walls. To make the room look larger, we used glass doors on both sides of the shower. It really highlights the white marble tile and our polished nickel plumbing fixtures. We also love storage so we designed cabinetry to run along the entire wall giving us more drawers and counter space, even room for a vanity.

We turned to Pottery Barn to add the finishing touches. We opted to keep the same metal in the space — sticking to polished nickel for all of our hardware, starting with the Kensington Mirrors. We love the classic design and the pivoting option. We bought the extra large size for the two mirrors above the sinks and the large for the vanity space. These mirrors really transformed the space! We loved them so much that we got the same mirrors for our guest bathrooms, too.

To hold our Pearl Embroidered Organic Bath and Hand Towels, we went with the Sussex Towel Ring and Benchwright Towel Bars. I decided to mix and match the hardware but staying with the same polished nickel finish. And our favorite buy was the Superplush Bath Rugs! We ended up getting one in front of each sink, shower and tub.

Even if you’re not completely remodeling your bathroom, you can give your bathroom a refresh just by switching out new towels, bathroom accessories; such as soap dispensers and toothbrush holders, and lastly décor items like wine balons and glass vases for fresh blooms.

I’d love to know what you consider your master bathroom essentials! Drop us a line in the comments below.
