We challenged 5 of our favorite entertaining bloggers to create the ultimate home bar, inspired by their signature cocktail and favorite pieces from our summer collection. Today, we’re featuring the fantastic design from Jessica Wilcox at Modern Moments Design. We asked Jessica about her inspirations for this design as well as her secrets to hosting a great cocktail party.
What was your inspiration and theme for your cocktail party?
The Pottery Barn colors this season are so bright and colorful. I knew there had to be a fun way to incorporate a variety of colors into one cohesive theme. Plus, I was loving all the textures and rope details. A Tiki Bar theme was the perfect way to incorporate bright colors, cocktail parties, and summer alike.
Which Pottery Barn products really made this party pop?
I honestly loved all the products I used, but one of my favorites was the Mason Jar Drink Dispenser and colorful Rhodes Turquoise Drink Dispenser Stand. There’s just something timeless about mason jars and for this party I was really going for a 1970’s feel and I think it was the perfect fit.
What do you think are the most special or unique details from your cocktail party?
The beautiful tropical florals definitely set the tone, but I love how all the paper products and graphics tie the whole party together. On their own, they are cute, but with the Pottery Barn products and beautiful florals, they are perfectly paired.
What’s your favorite summer spot for staging a cocktail party?
I’d love to stage a party at a backyard pool, but here in Oregon not very many people have private pools. Someday, I will have one and we will be able to throw an epic pool party!
What’s your favorite way to elevate a cocktail and turn it from ho-hum to fabulous?
Garnish. It’s that simple. Any sort of garnish whether it is a colorful sugar rim or a delicate candy swizzle stick, a garnish can take the most basic drink and make it look fabulous.
