PBteen Extraordinary Teen – Pooja Chandrashekar

Do you have a love for technology? We’re calling all girls who want to learn and develop a passion for computer science! Our Extraordinary Teen Pooja Chandrashekar is on a mission to get more girls involved in computer science and technology and today we are sharing her efforts!

Pooja noticed a big gender gap in her computer science classes, so after her sophomore year of high school she founded ProjectCSGIRLS to help close it. With the simple goal of encouraging more girls to develop a passion for technology, her nonprofit organization has grown to host the nation’s largest computer science competition for middle school girls and it organizes workshops and mentorships around the country!

Hi Pooja,
Nice to know your passion and interest in CS technology. I am a Dad of 8.5 yr old son and he is good in mathematics, logical puzzles, sports as well.
Is this forum or group open for only girls or for boys too.
We live out of Plano TX. Wanted to put my son in some coding camps so that he learns the ropes the right way. Let me know if you’re conducting one.

Thanks & Best Regards

Harish

Hi Pooja,
Nice to know that you thought differently and started a organization for coding for girls. Great initiative. I am mom of 2 boys – and my younger one has a mathematical mind and is interested in coding, if someone instructs him well. There must be a gap in CS classes in older ages, however there is a dearth of good CS (aka coding interest) development class at a younger age. We live in NJ and I am finding it hard to figure out how to develop his interest. Would help if you can pass on some advice..

Thanks
Sonal
