We love everything about fall and have been spending a lot of the season enjoying the crisp air at our local pumpkin patches. There is something about pumpkins that have us mesmerized and every year we become obsessed with new and fun ways to decorate and display them around our house.
One of our all-time favorite ways to decorate pumpkins without carving ’em is by melting crayons on top of them! The entire process is a fun activity for the kids and your finished product is a super cool, not to mention, spooky-looking pumpkin! We know your kiddos (and you!) will love doing this colorful experiment as much as we do.
WHAT YOU NEED:
- Real Pumpkins
- Crayons
- Tacky Glue
- Blow Dryer
- Plastic Tarp (optional)
DIRECTIONS:
- Unwrap crayon colors of choice
- Cut the crayons in half
- Glue crayon pieces using tacky glue to the pumpkin
- Let glue dry
- Use a blow dryer to melt the crayons
- You will want to do this on a plastic tarp or outside because there will be a bit of wax splattering from the blow dryer.
And voilà! Gorgeous pumpkins that complement the season’s colors. While we chose crayon colors perfect for Halloween, try experimenting with bright rainbow hues as well! Keep reading for more looks at our alternative on pumpkin decorating.
