For better or for worse, a blank wall in your home can be like a blank page to a writer: full of potential and completely terrifying. In an effort to avoid “designer’s block” long before it has a chance to set in, we turned to our dear friend — designer and vlogger Arianne Bellizaire — for some guidance. Arianne is a talented interior decorator, a seasoned Instagrammer, and a master when it comes to making a house feel like a home (or even an art gallery).
We asked Arianne to share some of her top tips with us for building a fun and fabulous gallery wall, taking the guess work out of the process entirely. With just three simple tips, you can turn your empty walls into true works of art!
Tip #1: Size Matters
Select one large-scale art piece that speaks to you and serves as the anchor for your gallery wall.
Tip #2: Add Personal Touches
Buy fabric and wallpaper remnants that fit your color scheme, and then use these textiles to create matting for your favorite photos. You can even use scraps that you have around the house, or you can ask friends and family to donate their scraps to you.
Tip #3: Find Balance
Select frames that are the right size and shape to fill in the empty spaces on either side of your anchor piece. This will result in an aesthetically-pleasing display that both looks and feels balanced.
Voilà! This is a simple and inexpensive way to add color, texture, and personality to your wall display, and the result is anything but common.
