Back-to-School DIY’s

The new school year has officially begun! What better way to get excited for all your new classes than with fun and easy DIY notebooks and magnets for your locker? We teamed up with Youtuber Ashley Dawn for a step-by-step tutorial so that you can make these simple yet super chic back-to-school accessories.

DIY #1: Raindrop Magnets

Supplies needed:

  • Gems
  • spray paint in the color of your choice
  • hot glue
  • magnets.

For this DIY the first step is to spray paint the gems. Once those have dried add a dab of hot glue to a magnet, place it on the back of the gem and let dry!

Tip: you can also do this DIY with pom poms!

These are perfect for hanging up pictures in your locker, on our metal photo displays or memos on our chalkboard style tiles in your room!

DIY #2: Gold notebooks

Supplies needed:

  • Notebook of your choice (they can be simple or already have designs on them)
  • tape
  • gold spray paint

This DIY is perfect for adding a little glamour to your school supplies. All you need to do is use the tape to create a design, spray paint and let it dry! Remember, what you tape off will stay the same original notebook color. We love how Ashley kept her notebooks simple yet chic by adding a metallic accent corner!

Another fun option: lay strips of tape vertically or horizontally for gold stripes!

We love a fun at-home activity and we absolutely adore the way these turned out. Check out Ashley’s full video here and show us how you are styling your fun back-to-school home made DIY’s by tagging us with #mypbteen!
