Animal Themed Nursery

Decorating your first nursery can be a little overwhelming. When it comes to designing for ourselves, it’s easy to put things off for months (sometimes years) before we get around to buying that perfect accent chair. But when it comes to decorating for your first little babe, things get more complicated. There’s a serious need to feel like every little thing is perfectly in place before bringing your baby home and an even more serious deadline.

That’s why we partnered with Anna from Anna With Love to talk about how to beat the clock and put together a perfectly perfect nursery for your newest addition. Read on to hear what she has to say!

From Anna: I am thrilled to finally reveal Johnny’s nursery! It took us three years to get our condo decorated and ‘done’ the way we wanted after Kosta and I got married, for the baby it took us three months.  I guess that’s what happens when you are expecting your first bebe – you want everything to be perfect and ready to welcome this new beautiful blessing.

Soon after we found out we were expecting a boy, Kosta and I sat down to discuss the various possible themes for the nursery.  I assumed he would take a laissez faire approach to it (he’s super easy going with the rest of our place) but I soon realized he had even more ideas than I did about what to create in our first bebe’s nursery.  I was amused and let him take the lead especially after we found out we were having a boy!

My husband loves all animals and he wanted to create a fun environment where our little bebe could learn to appreciate and love them too. I scoured Pinterest and began saving all the different types of nurseries that I felt were warm, inviting and as per Kosta’s request an animal theme.  I knew we had WAY too many ideas and different styles mixing together – we didn’t know how to edit our ‘wish list’ and make sure the room would flow.

That’s when I decided we needed a third party to help us bring it all together.  I reached out to my talented friend Jaquelyn Clark of Lark and Linen who agreed to consult and walk us through the design and decor process.  From picking the right crib, sprucing up the dresser, finalizing the colour scheme and most importantly bringing together the focal gallery wall she was a dream to work with and brought our vision to life.  There were so many ‘aha’ moments as it was coming together that I was so appreciative to have her on board.

We are also so thankful to our friends at Pottery Barn Kids who we teamed up with again for this special project.  We couldn’t be more happy with the quality of all the pieces – particularly the rocker (oh my goodness what a life-saver on those late nights rocking our little one to sleep it’s so cozy like an upright bed!)
