We can’t wait to celebrate Valentine’s Day because let’s face it, it doesn’t get much better than a whole day dedicated to love and treats. But we especially love Valentine’s Day because it gives us just another reason to smother our little ones with kisses – both real and candy 😉
This Valentine’s Day we’re focusing on the tradition of making homemade cards. It seems like such a small activity but there’s something extra special about using this time together to teach your child how to express their love and gratitude for the people in their lives.
While we love letting our little ones take the lead in how they want to design the cards, sometimes it’s easiest to have a few ideas in mind to help guide them along. That’s why we’ve come up with a few quick and easy Valentine’s Day card ideas that will be sure to win the hearts of many. ❤️
Here’s what you’ll need:
- Construction paper (white, red, pink, and glitter, of course!)
- Scissors
- Glue or tape
- String
- Colored pencils, crayons, markers, or whatever your kiddo likes to draw with!
Start by cutting out different hearts in different colors and sizes. These can be used to either decorate the front of the card or be strung together to create a pop-up on the inside of the card. Ask your little one where they want the hearts to go and let the creativity flow!
Once you have your cards decorated, it’s time help your little one personalize their Valentines! A simple and easy way to do this is by adding your Valentine’s initials on the front of the card. Next, help your little one write a sweet note on the inside. This is a great opportunity to encourage them to think of something nice to say about each recipient. That’s what Valentine’s Day is really all about!
