Ready to spread a little pre-holiday cheer? Today, November 13, is World Kindness Day! The initiative was first created in the ’90s to encourage people around the world to put aside their day’s frustrations and pay forward a little warmth and compassion for their loved ones and even strangers on the street. Is there a more lovely theme to carry through the day?
Plus, spreading a little bit of kindness is good for your health. Not only are you making the world a kinder, gentler place, those feel goods we get from treating a stranger to coffee or volunteering with a favorite charity actually change the chemical levels in your brain leading to those warm fuzzy feelings.
To celebrate World Kindness Day this year, our PBKids team hit the streets to surprise people in our local Pottery Barn Kids communities with a kind gesture: one of our favorite friends, the St. Jude Thanks and Giving® Bear. Not only are these some snuggily furry friends, for every bear sold now through Dec. 31, 2015, Pottery Barn Kids will donate 50% of the proceeds to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital®. Check out some of our favorite reactions to when our friends received their surprise bear:
How will you spread kindness today? We’d love to hear about your random acts of kindness in the comments!
