Win It! The Perfect Striped Scarf, as Modeled By Some of Our Favorite Bay Area Friends

Today, we’re teaming up with Mark and Graham, one of our sister companies, to bring you a giveaway for a fabulous accessory that will transition seamlessly into fall. The Armor Luxe Striped Cotton Scarf is a perfect way to add a sense of spirited fun to summer or fall ensembles. To celebrate the giveaway, we asked five San Francisco Bay Area creatives to model the scarf, and let us know a little bit more about themselves.

MG1
Katie Newburn, Emeryville, CA
Hometown: Napa Valley, California
Occupation: Food Photographer
You know you’re a Bay Area convert when… You realize you don’t actually mind the fog, in fact perhaps you like its mysteriousness, and the growth it brings to our landscape.
What’s your earliest memory of receiving a gift that really meant something to you? The year I was born my father purchased a Minolta SRT201 35mm camera, and used it to take photos of our family. After a few years he tucked it away, still in perfect condition, and on my 30th birthday gifted it to me. This was the solid confirmation that pursuing my dreams of becoming a professional photographer was the right decision.
My favorite way to entertain during August is Definitely outdoors with a blanket, and a basket full of goodies. Time spent with friends, enjoying the wonderful food grown and made in California is high on my list!
How do you plan to make your mark before the summer fades away? I’ve been extremely focused on my career as a commercial photographer, so I’m really excited to take some time for personal work. Before the summer ends I’m hoping to take some ideas running through my head, and turn them into images. It’s exciting, and I’m curious where it will take me.

MG4
Angela Tafoya, San Francisco
Hometown: I’ve lived in a bevy of places growing up — Central California, New Mexico, Los Angeles!
Occupation: S.F. editor, Refinery29
You know you’re a Bay Area convert when… All your sentences suddenly begin with the phrase “is it local”?
What’s your earliest memory of receiving a gift that really meant something to you? My grandmother has gifted me some gorgeous turquoise, rustic stoned jewelry from New Mexico. I remember when I was little, going over to her house in Albuquerque and coming home with cool relics of jewelry.
My favorite way to entertain during August is Having friends over for cocktails and BBQing in the backyard! Hopefully the weather gets warmer so the latter can actually happen!
How do you plan to make your mark before the summer fades away? If there is one thing I want to do before summer ends, it’s a river or camping trip. I would love to spend some time away from the Bay, in nature — and not to mention warm temps.

MG2
Courtney Lake, Oakland, CA
Hometown: I am a Midwest boy — born in Dayton, OH and raised in Detroit, MI!
Occupation: Courtney Out Loud, which is comprised of my namesake blog and residential interior design firm Courtney Lake Interiors. In addition, I regularly contribute expert design advice, DIY and entertaining tips to a variety of online and print publications.
You know you’re a Bay Area convert when… when the phrases “hella,” “cool beans” and “no worries” became part of my daily vernacular.
What’s your earliest memory of receiving a gift that really meant something to you? My maternal grandfather gave me a garnet ring (it’s my birthstone). It was too big so my Mom put in on a necklace and I wore it for years growing up.
My favorite way to entertain during August is Guacamole, chips and margaritas — something about that combo seems perfect whether it’s a Saturday afternoon party or a Tuesday night meet-up. It’s fun, easy and always pleases…
How do you plan to make your mark before the summer fades away? Finally taking a vacation! Heading to Taiwan and Japan for a two week excursion to mark the end of summer before work starts to pile up…

MG3
Jen Musty, San Francisco
Hometown: Tucson, AZ
Occupation: Owner, Batter Bakery
You know you’re a Bay Area convert when… You’re shocked that a “normal” grocery store doesn’t carry Mt. Tam cheese and ACME bread, and that … gasp… there is no farmer’s market?!?
What’s your earliest memory of receiving a gift that really meant something to you? When I was five or six years old my mom gave me a tiny gold bracelet she had been saving for me. I was allowed to wear it on special occasions and felt sooo fancy and grown up!
My favorite way to entertain during August is Outdoor dinner feasts on my boyfriend’s amazing (hand crafted!) redwood picnic table in Berkeley . . . the East Bay wins in terms of weather this time of year.
How do you plan to make your mark before the summer fades away? We’ll definitely be fitting an ice cream social (or two) into the calendar once the SF Indian Summer arrives! We just refinished an old ice cream cart and it is absolutely adorable.

Unknown
Miranda Jones, San Francisco
Hometown: I grew up in Missoula, MT but have called San Francisco home for almost 11 years!
Occupation: Editor, PopSugar Home
You know you’re a Bay Area convert when… You do your grocery shopping at the farmer’s market — year round.
What’s your earliest memory of receiving a gift that really meant something to you? When my brother was born, my grandmother brought me a little bird made out of shells, probably purchased during a winter trip to Florida. I absolutely loved it and looking back, I means so much that she thought to give me a gift on a day that wasn’t about me at all.
My favorite way to entertain during August is Is ‘consume as many pieces of stone fruit as humanly possible’ an acceptable answer?
How do you plan to make your mark before the summer fades away? My plan is to spend ever free day chasing the sun, be it north, south, east or…well, I can’t really go much farther west for a weekend but if I could, I would.

I agree with all those remarks before mine. It is ‘tres chic’.
and will go great with either blouses, sweaters or jackets.
