Behind the Design: Our Incredible November Photo Shoot

Talk about dreamy dinner party locations. We were swept away by the dramatic November Pottery Barn catalog cover. Curious as to where it was shot? If you’re from Maine, you might recognize the location.

The catalog cover was staged on Sunday River Bridge, also known as Artist’s Covered Bridge. The most painted and photographed covered bridge in Maine, it’s located on Sunday River Road in Newry, Maine. Sunday River Bridge, an 87-feet-long Paddleford truss bridge, was built in 1872. The bridge was closed to traffic over 50 years ago, with a new bridge located downstream. This makes it a perfect destination for artists, sightseers, and even wedding planners. We’re huge fans of this wedding, photographed by Andree Kehn, that took place on the Sunday River Bridge.

We’ve shot Pottery Barn catalog covers in some unusual places, but this may be our current favorite. And who wouldn’t want to get an invitation to a dinner party that took place on this beautiful covered bridge?

Loved Loved Loved!! A new englander myself, I was still captivated by this beautiful set when I got my catalogue in the mail. Great job at capturing the presence of a traditional covered bridge, and the warmth of gathering around the table with family & friends! Truly inspiring.

I cant believe I didn’t catch that this was taken on a covered bridge until you pointed it out. I guess when I received the Fall PB catalog I was just so taken by the beautiful table setting to notice the beautiful wooden structure it was sitting on!

It is beautiful, but an empty table just reminds me of how lonely I get this time of year. So many friends and family members are gone.

Absolutely, magical.
I recently visited a Pottery Barn store, and the entrance was decorated very similar to the cover of your current magazine. My sister and I were in awe.
I love the chocolate and golden browns, along with the twinkling lights.
Thank you for the inspiration.
