Today Amy from Homey Oh My! Blog is back at it with another fun DIY for back-to-school! Take it away, Amy!
Back-to-school season is upon us, and the one accessory every student needs is a bag to carry all that school gear. For a bag you’ll be carrying practically everyday, it wouldn’t be a bad idea to add your own little flair to it, especially if it’s as easy and cute as these suede leather tassels. Just a few simple materials are needed to make this chic accessory for your bag!
-round braided faux leather cord
-suede leather fringe
Each pack of leather fringe comes with two pieces, which together make one tassel, so two packs will make two tassels total.
Step 1: Apply Tacky glue to the back-side top edge of the suede leather fringe. Note: it isn’t necessary to apply as much as shown in the photo above. Just one thin line of glue across the top is sufficient.
Step 2: Place one end of the braided round cord down on the glue at the edge of the leather fringe.
Step 3: Roll the leather fringe over the braided cord until the leather fringe is completely rolled up.
Step 4: With a line of Tacky glue already applied across the top back-side of the second piece of leather fringe, place the edge of this piece right next to where the first piece of leather left off, then roll the rest of the leather around the tassel.
Step 5: Repeat steps 1-4 on the other end of the braided cord to make this double-ended tassel accessory.
Step 6: Tie it around the handle of your tote bag and let it hang!
