DIY: How to Make a Gorgeous Holiday Wreath

Today’s wreaths are quite different from the faux-flocked pine and candy red foil of the past.  Now, our Christmas wreaths and garlands celebrate nature with seasonal foliage and flowers that could have easily been gathered from our own backyards.

Claire of Fellow Fellow designed this wreath out of foliage and berries found at her local flower market, a basic wreath ring and green florist wire. With just a little bit of effort, she turned a few plant cuttings into a beautiful, handmade holiday decoration for her front door.

Take note — look for sturdy plants, sticks and berries when hunting for winter foliage for your wreath. Fragile leaves and flowers are more difficult to work with, and won’t last as long. Choose plants with plenty of greenery to help fill in any empty spots or gaps showing florist wire.
