3 Irresistible Warm Weather Trends

Written by Gabrielle Blair of Design Mom for Building Blocks.

Now that temperatures are rising, I’m getting the annual redecorating itch. It happens to me every year. You too? Here are three trends that I’m craving right now:

1. Anchors Aweigh

Sign me up for sailing lessons, because nautical themes are everywhere right now. And honestly, I couldn’t be happier about it. Red, navy, bold stripes, rope accents, anchors, stars. Bring it on! I adore nautical details and find myself seeking them out, even when they’re not on-trend. Switch out your sheets for some of these, add an anchor pillow and you’ll feel like you could spend the rest of your days wearing Top-Sider boat shoes.

2. Perfect Pillows

DMWarmWeatherTrends2Nothing says it’s a new season like an armful of fresh throw pillows. I’m drawn to allover prints on crisp cotton: florals, hand-blocked-prints or geometric patterns. I think filling my sidechairs with pillows covered in fabrics like these would look so fresh in the house.

3. Going Green

DMWarmWeatherTrends3I’ve got my eye out for anything garden-y. People everywhere are feeling the pull of seeds and soil and garden centers right now, and I count myself among them. In an effort to take more notice of what we’re eating, people are growing gardens in any way they can. And the trend is making its way into decor as well! You’ll see burlap and galvanized metal and every shade of green popping up left and right. Happily, this is the sort of trend where you can involve the kids — charming seed kits like these make great warm weather gifts.

Budgets, time constraints, and the fact that the farmhouse we’re living in is a fully furnished rental means that some of these trends will be bookmarked and saved to inspiration boards, but not necessarily implemented.

And that’s fine with me. There are so many wonderful ideas out there, we can’t possibly incorporate them all. But I get an incredible amount of delight from taking the ideas, making note of them and seeing what kinds of thoughts and new projects they spark in my real life.

I’d love to know: Are there any particular trends that have caught your eye this year? Share in the comments below!

Anchors Aweigh is certainly a trend I will be following this summer. I absolutely love the Anchor Sheeting Pottery Barn Kids has to offer. Can’t wait to purchase 🙂
