Classic Mint Julep For Summer

With the Kentucky Derby less than 3 weeks ago, we have become obsessed with all things related to the race.  Our head is filled with images of majestic horses, big hats and of course bourbon!  Since 1938, the mint julep has been promoted by Churchill Downs in association with the Kentucky Derby as the official “drink” of the race. The mint julep is an essential part of the Kentucky Derby and it is estimated that over 120,000 juleps are served at Churchill Downs over the two-day period the races occur.  With 50+ years of legacy, we thought it best to call in a pro to help us create the perfect, classic mint julep.  Fortunately for us, our partners at Bulleit  put us in contact with Colleen Jeffer’s of The Good Drink.  For those in the know, Colleen’s site is amazing repository of cocktail related goodness shot in the most lovely way.  We felt we were in good hands with her and we were not disappointed!
