The Perfect Cocktail Recipe to Welcome Fall: Moonlighter Cocktail #2 by Charles Joly

We teamed up with world champion bartender and award-winning mixologist Charles Joly to offer a collection that extends the authentic craft cocktail experience to the home bar. Demystifying the art of the at-home cocktail, the Crafthouse by Fortessa® Classic Collection brings the same expertise that Joly delivers to the world’s best bars to your living room bar cart.  To celebrate our most recent (and delicious) collaboration, we asked Charles to share his favorite seasonal cocktails with us!

As summer begins to draw to a close, The Moonlighter Cocktail #2 is perfect for holding onto those last sunny day gatherings or time spent with friends late into the evening. It’s undeniably bright, crisp, refreshing and elegant. This is an easy, at home version inspired by flavor combinations Charles first used at the 68th annual Emmys Governors Ball. The 2018 event will also be taking place in September, so this can be a perfect cocktail for your viewing parties as well!

Ingredients:

  • 1 ½ oz  Ketel One Vodka
  • ¾  oz Chamomile-Lavender Syrup**
  • ½ oz Cocchi Americano
  • ¾ oz Fresh Lemon Juice
  • 2 oz Soda Water
  • Lemon Twist
  • Lavender Sprigs

Crafthouse by Fortessa Bartools/Barware:

Instructions:

  1. Combine Ketel One, Chamomile Lavender Syrup, Fresh Lemon Juice and Cocchi Americano in Crafthouse by Fortessa Boston Shaker.
  2. Add ice and shake lightly. Over shaking will cause the drink to water down; do not over dilute, as we will be adding additional Soda Water.
  3. Roll in Soda Water and strain over fresh ice into a Crafthouse by Fortessa Collins glass.
  4. Garnish with a manicured lemon twist and fresh lavender sprigs.

** Easy Chamomile-Lavender Syrup

Ingredients:

  • Strong Chamomile and Lavender Tea
  • Sugar

Instructions:

  1. Brew 1 cup of strong chamomile and lavender tea; allow to steep for 20 minutes.
  2. Remove tea bags or herbs.
  3. Measure remaining amount of brewed tea, stir in equal volume of sugar until dissolved.
  4. Chill.

Thinking about serving this cocktail at your next dinner party?  Fortunately the Moonlighter #2 is very food friendly but is also great on their own. It’s a perfect aperitif and easy enough to sip throughout a meal. But if you were to serve the Moonlighter #2 as part of a dinner, Charles recommends pairing it with a light seafood dish – think ceviche, seafood carpaccio or light salads.

If you  happen to be in the Chicago area on September 29th from 1:00 – 3:00pm, don’t miss your opportunity to meet Charles in person as he demonstrates  how to whip up a delicious drink with prestige and answer questions about his Pottery Barn collection.  It’s going to be a great afternoon of craft cocktails, light bites, raffle prizes and engaging conversation with one of America’s foremost mixologist!
