DIY Diary: The Emily & Meritt Star Garland

emilymerritstarMAINHi everyone, it’s Laurel from A Bubbly Life! You might remember me from some of the previous PBteen DIY posts I’ve done like my Hearts & Stars Lanterns, Ping Pong Paddle Boards, or even my DIY Pineapple Scarf!  I recently attended and hosted the star garland craft workshop at PBteen in Scottsdale, AZ.  The craft event was free and every attendee made a star garland (or two) inspired by the Emily & Meritt collection. It was a great chance to meet other crafty individuals and share in the diy love!

IMG_1800PBteen just opened in Scottsdale this summer, so it was my first chance to go to a PBteen store.  I loved seeing everything in person. While I love getting my catalog in mail, having it all set up to see and get ideas is awesome.

The craft workshop was in the back of the store directly in front of the Emily and Meritt decked out queen sized bed.  I was already a fan girl, but seeing all the items together on the bed was a whole new level of love!

IMG_1861We all sat down to work on the garland which came in a cute little pouch with simple instructions.  The stars came in silver, gold and copper, a perfect metallic mix! All the girls had different ideas where to hang their garland – off their bed posts, on their desks, in their lockers, etc… there was a lot of creativity at the table!

I crafted alongside all of the happy girls four of them went home with the Emily & Meritt inspired paper lanterns I made.  I wish I had more to give away!

Thank you PBteen for having me- it was such a great event and I cannot wait for more! Check out the step-by-step DIY below to make one for yourself!

4. Tie a knot on both sides of the star to secure it in place on the garland.

5.  Repeat until you’ve strung all the stars to create your personal design.

6.  Hang horizontally, or vertically in any space to make it fabulous.

Be sure to share your results with us by posting to Instagram and tagging @PBteen!

Thanks so much! But, I would LOVE if you told us where you purchased your supplies. I can’t seem to find the metallic stars anywhere, and that’s obviously the most important part of this DIY.
