A Sweet Surprise for 4th of July

Written by Megan Bailey of Sweet Little Peanut for Building Blocks.

The Fourth of July is one of my all-time favorite holidays. I’ve loved it since I was a little kid – it always reminds me of sunny days at the lake, barbecue parties and (of course) fireworks!

Speaking of barbecues: a great way to cool down the little peanuts at your 4th of July party is to serve homemade snow cones right in your own backyard. Using the Pottery Barn Kids Snow Cone Machine, you can easily make the crushed snow for this summer-perfect treat. Add our homemade syrup (recipe below) to add color and flavor – it’s a healthier option that’s also all-natural! Both you and your little party guests will love this cool snack.

Homemade Healthy Snow Cone Syrup

Ingredients:

Step 1: If using fresh fruit, blend until completely smooth. Add two cups of water and ½ cup of Agave in the Raw and continue blending until you have a smooth, watery consistency. Pour syrup in a bottle for easy pouring.

Step 2: If you’re using a can of frozen fruit juice, let it thaw until it’s almost liquid. Add juice to two cups of water and ½ cup of Agave and blend or stir until you have a smooth, watery consistency. Pour syrup in a bottle for easy pouring.

Step 3: For non-fruit colors, like blue, use blue water flavoring or a blue punch packet. Add to two cups of water and ½ cup Agave in the Raw. Stir until completely mixed. Pour syrup in a bottle for easy pouring.
