Things to Try: August

Happy August! We love this last month of summer before school starts! While back to school means no more sleeping in, it’s also a chance to get organized, see friends every day, and of course, enjoy a whole new set of pretty school supplies. We’ve rounded up five fabulous things to do this month before heading back to class…

1) Do it yourself!

Make your study space feel cozier with cute DIYs. They’ll keep you busy for the remaining summer weeks, plus they add a dash of personality to your homework space. Try this DIY photo garland we posted last month!

2) Go on a picnic.336fad15253e358faf5c4093c8c66cea

Grab your friends and enjoy the great outdoors with yummy food and a beautiful view like blogger Gal Meets Glam did! This is a great way to score some last-minute time with your BFFs before you all get busy with homework and after-school sports. (We’ll feature tips for the perfect end-of-summer picnic later this month – stay tuned!)

3) Shop ’til you drop! GG14_sp13_mainmodel_ah_v1_0611

The best part of back to school is clearly the shopping! Take an insider tip from us and shop early before your favorite gear and supplies are gone.

4) Be a bookworm.0973c21b26cff02884470cb1f045bef5

It’s hard to stay focused when the beautiful weather calls your name, but try to spend a couple hours each week on a few fun reads before all your reading is assigned for you. Better yet, take your book outside and enjoy the long summer afternoons! (Check out this list for some great book recommendations.)

5) #DressYourDesk! ssprintshop_hq

Set up for a successful new school year – you can start by organizing your desk and making it fun by showing off your personal style. Oh, and while you’re at it, post a picture of your finished work space and tag @PBteen on Instagram with the hashtag #DressYourDesk – you could win a $1,000 gift card!

How are YOU going to make the most of August? Let us know in the comments!

Yes, the glorious summer days are almost over. One of the last things I’m going to do before school starts is update my room. It’s been the same color for to long of a time for me, so, why not give it a fresh coat of paint?
