When you become a mom, sometimes it feels like you can never have anything pretty again — clothes, furniture, you name it.
Not so, says Gabrielle Blair, author of Design Mom: How to Live with Kids: A Room-by-Room Guide. She believes that a well-designed home is a (practical) gift we can give our families.
“Design isn’t some froufrou gloss or shiny veneer on life,” she writes. “It’s insisting on a solution (preferably an elegant one) and working carefully to make sure that solution works within whatever constraints you have — architectural, financial, or the fact that children live in your home.”
