House Tour: See the Sunny L.A. Living Room of Rue Magazine’s Managing Editor

Let’s be honest, who really likes moving? The mountains of boxes. The never ending organization. Nothing from your old house seems to quite work in your new place. Bluntly put, moving is as much fun as herding cats. When Rue Magazine’s Managing Editor, Kelli Lamb and her husband Timothy relocated from San Francisco to Los Angeles, they did get a bonus out of the hassle though: moving into a larger space! When it came to turning their new house into a home, creating a cohesive color palette, selecting furniture with the correct scale for the space and developing a design that reflects the couple’s youthful but sophisticated aesthetic were atop Kelli’s priority list. Kelli recently shared the final results and we think the refresh hit all the points and then some!

A large and comfortable mid-century inspired sectional anchors the living room with our versatile Louise Marble Nesting Tables. A sculptural leather chair in the corner provides balance and texture to the room with the enclosed media console providing much needed storage. In our interpretation of the look below, we swapped out the sleek console for something a little more worn to add a bit of gravitas to the room.

Off the living room, Kelli created the perfect window nook and reading oasis! A day bed filled with indigo pillows and cozy knit throws is the perfect place for Kelli to write, edit stories and answer emails.

Still a San Francisco native at heart, Kelli opted to forgo the traditional cocktail bar and use a tall tower with enclosed storage below to display her liquors as well as her collectibles. The large graphic print next to the tower is a homage to her husband’s job as a cartoonist & animator and is rounded out by a petite sconce and dual use stools.

Through smart decisions and staying true to her own design style, Kelli was able to navigate the treacherous terrain of putting together a new home, and came out the other side with a bright and cool place that definitely is one-part L.A. chic but 100% her. We’re certainly loving the look and feeling very inspired to spruce up our spaces for 2016!
