When we heard the story of how Pottery Barn registrants Elena and Bart met, we instantly knew we had to share their story. Elena and Bart both grew up on the water — Elena from the Land of 10,000 Lakes and Bart from Chicago. A longtime cyclist, Elena took a break from racing her bike and signed up for a lesson at the Chicago Yacht Club, taught by Bart. There are strict rules around dating students, but after the season Bart followed her on Twitter like any good 21st century man, and when Bart arrived to their first date by bicycle, Elena knew they’d be teammates for life.
Elena and Bart love to bring their love of water and outdoors inside. Their registry is filled with nautical accents as well as canoes, bike tires and a sailing dry suit. As they put it, “It’s less about filling a big house with stuff, but how a smaller space reflects our experiences.”
