Back-to-School Smoothies from Pankobunny

Now that classes are in full swing, we asked Cayla from Pankobunny to create 3 simple smoothie recipes to help you maintain concentration, get rid of those butterfly nerves and increase your energy while on the go. We love how they taste and most importantly, we love how easy they are to make!

Concentration 

This smoothie is perfect if you need help concentrating when studying for a big upcoming test! Blueberries are high in antioxidants, which improve learning function capacity and memory. Bananas contain dopamine, which increases attention and memory, as well as serotonin, which boosts your mood. Almond milk contains vitamin E, which reduces cognitive decline. Now go ace that test!

Ingredients (serves 1)
– 1 cup fresh blueberries
– 1 banana
– 1 cup almond milk

Directions
1. Blend all ingredients together and enjoy!

Nerves

Big exam or game coming up? This smoothie will calm your nerves and allow you to tackle the day! Green tea contains L-theanine, an amino acid with a calming effect, especially for high anxiety. Bananas contain serotonin which boosts your mood and avocados increase blood flow and reduce blood pressure. Acai berries contain antioxidants, which will help relieve stress. And lastly, peaches contain compounds that have a calming effect and are labeled as the “fruit of calmness”! I feel calm just minutes after sipping on this smoothie – give it a try and let me know if you do too!

Ingredients (serves 1)
– 1 tsp matcha green tea powder
– 1 banana
– ¼ avocado
– 1 tsp acai berry powder
– ½ fresh peach
– 1 cup peach juice
– drizzle of honey

Directions
1. Blend all ingredients together and enjoy!

Energy

Need a bit of a boost? Almond milk contains magnesium and Vitamin B, which helps convert food into energy. If you’re low in magnesium, you’ll actually tire more quickly when exercising. Peanut butter contains healthy fats, protein and fiber, which stave off hunger and keep blood-sugar levels stable. Bananas contain fiber, vitamin B and potassium, which promote sustained energy and muscle function. Chocolate contains endorphins, which boost your mood and coffee, of course, contains caffeine and gives you an energy boost! This is perfect for mornings when you’re quick on time, but want something a little more sustaining than just coffee. And it’s SO yummy!

– 1 cup almond milk
– 1 tbsp peanut butter
– 1 banana
– 1 tbsp cocoa powder
– ½ tbsp instant coffee

Directions
1. Blend all ingredients together and enjoy!
