Acts of Kindness Initiative + Our Gift To You

When it comes down to it, the holidays are about people. Inviting a neighbor inside for a cup of tea. Making dinner for a friend who’s too busy. Wrapping an extra gift for a child in need.  That’s why, this holiday season, we at Pottery Barn, Pottery Barn Kids, and PBteen are showing our coworkers, customers and communities that we care through a campaign called “Acts of Kindness.”

We are encouraging you to perform and share random acts of kindness. Once a week starting November 11th through the end of December, we’re giving away a $100 Pottery Barn Gift Card to customers who post an image showing an act of kindness with the hashtags #PBeKind and #mypotterybarn, #lovemypbk, or #mypbteen.   A kind act can be anything: baking that person’s favorite treat, writing a friendly note or extending an invitation for lunch. No act is too big or small, and there’s no need to spend a dime.

Acts of Kindness is a concept that originated in our retail stores in 2010, when we started donating 50% of the purchase price of select items sold during the holiday season to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. The partnership sparked a charitable spirit internally, with departments hosting bake sales and other friendly competitions to raise money for the cause.

Also in 2010, through the purchase of our products, we started donating to Give a Little Hope, which benefits organizations that provide temporary and long-term housing for youth and families. These are just a couple of ways we have tried to show kindness to our communities as a company.

We hope this campaign inspires you to make the world a better place this holiday season.

Be kind to others.

Be kind to yourself.

And you’ll enjoy the holidays even more.
