Who doesn’t want their engagement photos to be picture perfect? We met with Caroline Winata from Milou+Olin Photography to get her professional advice for what you should know before stepping in front of the lens. Here are her five best tips:
1. Make it Personal
Don’t directly copy something you found on Pinterest, or steal an idea from a friend’s engagement shoot. Think outside the box and base your shoot on hobbies you share or an element of your personality. Let elements of your relationship lead you to a great location.
2. Have Fun and Let Loose
Be silly, relax, and enjoy your shoot! Choose a location that evokes fun memories, or somewhere you’ve always wanted to go. The more relaxed you are around your photographer, the better photos they’ll be able to achieve.
3. Deviate from the Norm
Don’t choose the same theme or look you’ll have at your wedding – mix it up! If you’re having a rustic or vintage style wedding, go more modern; if your big day is formal and posh, consider heading to the country or to the beach! 4. Bring your Pets
As a former dog trainer and photographer, I’m all about bringing your pets to a shoot! Bring your babies! Just be sure to tell your photographer first, so they can accommodate.
5. Plan Your Outfits
Wear something that shows off your personal style. Are you quirky? Classic? Preppy? Think about your style and pick pieces that coordinate without being matchy. Check out our “what to wear” Pinterest board for engagements!
