They say everything is bigger in Texas, but interior designer Carolina Gentry is proving good things come in small packages with her petite Dallas porch. To see the Pottery Barn products that Carolina used in her porch transformation, hover over the picture!
Carolina is one of the founding principals at interior design firm, Pulp Design Studios, a firm known for its modern but livable approach to design. Carolina and her business partner, Beth Dotolo, are well-versed in crafting rooms that pack a bold impact but still maintain a classic sense of proportion and scale thanks to their years design for hospitality and commercial firms. However, when it came to designing her own Dallas-based home, Carolina opted for a more demure aesthetic that pulls in global wares for a hip worldly inspired vibe. This can be seen in the outdoor space off her main living area.
Knowing that space was limited, Carolina opted for two sitting chairs rather than a loveseat. It allows her maximum flexibility when entertaining as she can move the chairs from in front of the indoor/outdoor fireplace (which we LOVE!) to the side of the porch.
However, we have to admit that the belle of the ball has to be the beaded chandelier which is offset by the pale blue ceiling, a nice nod to the designer’s southern roots where blue ceiling porches are common.
With the beaded chandelier adding a visual anchor, Gentry completed the global inspired outdoor space with wooden objects (great for withstanding the elements), a graphic print rug and a modern geometric table which brings a touch of modernity. But it’s the inclusion of the mirror above the fireplace that caught our eye. It’s a great alternative to artwork and can be more resilient than an art piece.
