Behind the Scenes With One of Our Favorite New Shows — Nashville

As we look forward to this Sunday’s Golden Globes Awards presentation, we’re reflecting back on some of our favorite shows, including Downton Abbey, The Good Wife and Nashville. While we’re huge admirers of these shows thanks to the great plot lines, writing and acting, we have to admit we’re equally drawn to them due to their fantastic set designs. Of all of these, Nashville is currently the staff favorite here, and we’re quite thrilled for Connie Britton, who plays fictional country superstar Rayna James on the show, and is nominated for best actress in a TV drama. Her costar, Hayden Panettiere, who plays James’s country music star nemesis Juliette Barnes, is also nominated for supporting actress in a series, miniseries or movie.

In an interview with the LA Times, Britton noted of the role, “I just thought it was a great opportunity to play a very complex powerful woman. And the country music world just seemed like such a fun and exciting world to step into. It’s been a blast.”

The show’s attention to detail has really impressed us, including the re-creation of The Bluebird Cafe, a Nashville institution. The cafe was lovingly re-created down to the art on the walls. Set decorator Ruby Guidara is responsible for the show’s authentic look and set design, which encompasses a number of sets, from Rayna’s luxurious, southern-style home to the more humble digs of Deacon Claybourne or Scarlett O’Connor. From huge stages to studio moments, the show gets it right every time.
Are you a fan of the show as well? Which set is your favorite? Make sure to let us know in the comments below!
